Police Foil Illegal Camel Race in Negev Desert

Israeli police forces in the Southern District thwarted an illegal camel race in the Negev desert early this morning. The event was being organized in an area designated for military training near Road 222 and the Bir Hadaj area. Intelligence gathered indicated preparations were underway, with vehicles, participants, and camels arriving at the location.

Units from the Shuqba Salam police station, the Yoav unit, Border Police, and the National Guard raided the site, supported by the police's air unit. The operation successfully prevented the race from starting. As forces entered, several vehicles fled the scene.

With aerial assistance, police located and apprehended two minors who attempted to flee and hide among bushes near a camel. They were taken to the Shuqba Salam police station for further investigation, and the camel was seized. Police stated the operation is part of ongoing efforts to detect and disrupt illegal camel racing through a combination of intelligence, ground forces, and air capabilities.
