Police Seize Weapons, Arrest 8 Suspects in Negev Operations

Israeli police announced Sunday the seizure of firearms, ammunition, and combat equipment during a series of operations conducted by police stations in the Negev towns of Shqib al-Salam and Ar'ara al-Negev. The operations, carried out in cooperation with Border Police National Guard units in the southern region, resulted in the arrest of eight suspects.

During one search of a residential complex over the weekend, forces found a Glock pistol, magazines, and 9mm ammunition. They also discovered additional Glock magazines, other magazines, and equipment related to an M-16 rifle, along with hundreds of 5.56mm caliber rounds. Four suspects, three men and a woman, all residents of Hura, were arrested and taken for questioning.

In a separate incident, police in Shqib al-Salam responded to a report of violence and apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in a shooting incident. This individual was also taken for investigation.

Another operation by Shqib al-Salam police, in collaboration with Ar'ara al-Negev police, led to the discovery of a pistol in the possession of a local resident, who was subsequently arrested and interrogated.

Finally, police in Ar'ara al-Negev, with National Guard support, searched a residential complex based on intelligence about combat equipment. They confiscated 10 magazines and nine bundles containing hundreds of 5.56mm caliber bullets. Two suspects were apprehended in this raid and handed over with the seized items for further investigation.
