Police Seize Weapons, Ammo in Negev Raids, Arrest 8 Suspects

Israeli police announced on Sunday the seizure of firearms, ammunition, and 26 magazines during a series of operations in the Negev region. Eight suspects were arrested in connection with the findings. The operations, conducted by police stations in the towns of Shaqib al-Salam and Ar'arat al-Naqab, in collaboration with the National Guard, targeted residential complexes and pursued suspects following reports of violence.

During searches, officers discovered Glock pistols, ammunition, and equipment related to M-16 rifles, along with hundreds of 5.56mm caliber rounds. In one incident in Hura, four individuals, including three men and one woman, were detained and taken for questioning. Another suspect was apprehended in Shaqib al-Salam on suspicion of involvement in a shooting incident.

Further operations in Shaqib al-Salam and Ar'arat al-Naqab led to the discovery of another handgun and additional magazines and ammunition. In Ar'arat al-Naqab specifically, police found 10 magazines and nine bundles containing hundreds of 5.56mm rounds. Two suspects were arrested in this raid, bringing the total number of detainees across all operations to eight.

All arrested individuals were transferred to police stations for further investigation. The operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat the illegal possession of weapons and address violent incidents in the region.
