Susan Sarandon and Hannah Einbinder Arrested at UN Protest Against Netanyahu
Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon and "The L Word" star Hannah Einbinder were arrested Thursday in New York City during a protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech at the United Nations General Assembly. The demonstration, organized in part by the group "Jewish Voice for Peace," saw activists chanting slogans such as "You can't hide, you're wanted for genocide" and holding signs calling to stop arming Israel.
According to the New York Police Department, the protest was not permitted and participants blocked a major intersection. After refusing police orders to disperse, several individuals, including Sarandon and Einbinder, were taken into custody.
