Emmy-Winning Actress Arrested at Anti-Netanyahu Protest in NYC

Emmy-winning actress Ilana Glazer, known for her criticism of Israel, was arrested on Thursday during a protest in New York City against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's arrival for his UN General Assembly address. Glazer, who participated in the demonstration, posted on Instagram about her arrest and the broader context of the protest.

Approximately 100 demonstrators were reportedly arrested at the event, which also saw the arrests of actresses Susan Sarandon and Cynthia Nixon. Glazer stated that if images of her and her friends being arrested draw attention, it should be directed towards what she described as the "devastating genocide" Israel is conducting against Palestinians and in Southern Lebanon, citing settler attacks, home demolitions, and bombings.

Glazer asserted that the U.S. government has the power to end the violence but instead chose to welcome Netanyahu. She criticized both Republicans and Democrats for allowing and protecting individuals she labeled as "architects of genocide," including Netanyahu, and emphasized that the genocide, not her arrest, is the main story that needs to end.

She further elaborated that the U.S. government could stop the "killing, looting, and land theft" but instead welcomed the "butcher from Gaza." Glazer concluded by stating that the fact that the person orchestrating the bloodshed is freely moving through American cities is an indictment of the political parties that enable and defend such figures.
