Emmy-Winning Actress Arrested at Anti-Netanyahu Protest in NYC

Emmy-winning actress Ilana Glazer, known for her criticism of Israel, was arrested on Thursday during a protest in New York City against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's arrival for his UN General Assembly address. Glazer, who participated in the demonstration, posted on Instagram about her arrest and the broader context of the protest.

She stated that if images of her and her friends being arrested draw attention, it should be directed towards what she described as Israel's "devastating genocide against the Palestinian people and in southern Lebanon," along with settler attacks, home demolitions, and bombings. Glazer asserted that the U.S. government has the power to end the violence but instead chose to welcome Netanyahu, whom she called the "butcher from Gaza" and an "architect of genocide."

Glazer criticized both Republicans and Democrats for enabling and protecting figures like Netanyahu, whom she holds responsible for the ongoing bloodshed. She emphasized that the arrest itself is not the main story, but rather the "genocide" is the headline and must end.

Reports indicate approximately 100 protesters were arrested at the demonstration, including fellow actresses Susan Sarandon and Cynthia Nixon. Glazer's statement highlighted her view that the international community's coverage of these events is insufficient.
