Doron Weizman Charged with Murder of Caucasus Crime Boss Yanis Yushbayev
Doron Weizman has been indicted for the murder of Yanis Yushbayev, the alleged head of the Caucasus crime family. The indictment was filed in the Lod District Court.
Yushbayev was shot and killed in his home in the central Israeli city of Ramle on March 19. Weizman, who was arrested shortly after the incident, is accused of entering Yushbayev's home and shooting him multiple times. The motive for the murder is believed to be a dispute between the two men over a debt.
Weizman is also charged with possession of a weapon and obstruction of justice. The prosecution is seeking to extend his remand until the end of proceedings.
Weizman's attorney stated that his client denies the charges and that the evidence against him is circumstantial. The investigation is ongoing, and police are looking into possible accomplices.
