Man Charged with Murder of Caucasus Mafia Boss in 'Honey Trap' Ambush

A 54-year-old man, Doron Weizman from Beit She'an, is set to be indicted for the murder of Yanis Yushbayev, the head of the "Caucasus Mafia." The indictment will be filed in the Haifa District Court. Yushbayev was allegedly lured to a business meeting in Caesarea, which turned out to be a fatal "honey trap," ending with a point-blank fatal gunshot.

Police investigations, aided by the elite Yamam counter-terrorism unit, revealed that Weizman arrived at the restaurant before Yushbayev. Security footage captured Weizman calmly smoking and drinking on the outdoor patio. When Yushbayev arrived with others, Weizman was seen discarding his cigarette, ascending stairs, opening a door, firing a single fatal shot, and fleeing the scene.

Forensic evidence, including cigarette butts, a glass, and a chair from the scene, played a crucial role in implicating Weizman. His getaway car was found abandoned just two kilometers away, containing evidence that unequivocally linked him to the murder. Despite being confronted with the security footage, Weizman has reportedly denied the charges.

Weizman was apprehended in a dramatic raid on a hideout apartment in Hadera by Yamam forces, who believed him to be dangerous and potentially armed. He attempted to use a false identity and was found with a knife but surrendered without resistance, along with his girlfriend.

Authorities believe Yushbayev was deliberately deceived into the meeting, which was presented as purely business. While four individuals present at the meeting have been questioned under caution, police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend the senior underworld figures suspected of orchestrating the hit and sending Weizman to carry it out. Further arrests are anticipated.
