Border Police Officers Detained for Car Theft and Ramming Incidents

Three Border Police (MAGAV) officers are under investigation by the Police Internal Investigations Department (MAHAZ) for allegedly stealing a car, driving it without authorization, and abusing their authority. Among the suspects is the son of a senior security official, who was questioned on September 23rd and released under restrictive conditions pending further investigation into his involvement. The incident reportedly occurred near Jerusalem during a patrol when the officers noticed a parked car with keys inside. According to suspicions, they entered the vehicle without legal authority and drove off, causing damage to other parked cars. The stolen vehicle has not yet been recovered. Investigators noted that the officers did not report their actions to their commander. Following their interrogation on September 23rd, the suspects were released with a 15-day restriction from police facilities. The investigation, led by MAHAZ in the Jerusalem district, is ongoing. The lawyer for the security official's son stated that his client, a MAGAV officer, was ordered to take control of the abandoned vehicle as part of operational activity and deliver it to Israeli territory, claiming he acted under orders and followed protocol.
