Border Police Officers Suspected of Car Theft, One is Senior Official's Son

The Police Investigations Department (MAHAH) of the State Prosecutor's Office has questioned three Border Police (MAGAV) officers under caution. They are suspected of car theft, using a vehicle without permission, and abusing their authority. According to the investigation's version of events, the officers were on patrol near Jerusalem when they noticed a parked car with keys inside. Without legal grounds to use the vehicle, MAHAH suspects they took it for a drive, damaging other cars in the process. They then abandoned the car without reporting the incident to their command. The stolen vehicle has not yet been recovered.

Following their questioning, all three officers were released under a condition that prohibits them from police facilities for 15 days. Kan News reported that one of the suspects is the son of a senior official within the Israeli law enforcement system. Neither the suspect's name nor his father's position have been published. The investigation is ongoing.
