Border Police Officers Investigated for Alleged Car Theft

The Police Investigations Department (PID) is investigating three Border Police officers on suspicion of car theft and abuse of authority. The officers were on patrol in the Jerusalem area when they reportedly found a parked car with keys inside. Believing the vehicle to be abandoned, they allegedly drove it, causing damage to nearby cars, before abandoning it themselves without reporting the incident to their superiors.

One of the suspects is the son of a senior security official. The officers claim they stopped to inspect the vehicle, which they believed to be stolen, and intended to transfer it to Israeli territory. They stated the car broke down during the drive, and after failing to move it, they left it and returned to their patrol vehicle.

All three officers were released under restrictive conditions following their interrogation and have been banned from police facilities for 15 days. The son of the security official asserted that he acted according to his commanders' instructions.
