Border Police Officers Investigated for Car Theft and Damage

A Border Police officer, identified as the son of a senior security official, along with two other Border Police officers serving with him, were questioned under caution by the Police Investigations Department (PID) on Wednesday. They are suspected of serious offenses committed while on duty, including car theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and abuse of authority.

According to the suspicions, the incident occurred during a routine patrol in the Jerusalem envelope area. The three officers allegedly noticed a civilian car with its keys left inside. Without legal authority or operational justification, they entered the vehicle and began driving. During the drive, they damaged several parked vehicles before abandoning the car in a field.

The officers reportedly left the scene without reporting the incident to their commanders or relevant authorities. Despite searches, the stolen vehicle has not yet been recovered.

Following their interrogation at the PID offices, the three Border Police officers were released under restrictive conditions, including a 15-day order barring them from all police facilities. The PID stated that the investigation is ongoing and is being managed by the PID's Jerusalem team.
