Arkia Launches First Direct Flights to Madeira
Israeli airline Arkia operated its inaugural direct flight from Tel Aviv to the Portuguese island of Madeira yesterday, in collaboration with Millennium Tours. The flight, utilizing an Airbus A321 aircraft, took approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes.
Madeira Airport, named after football star Cristiano Ronaldo, is known for its unique and operationally challenging runway, requiring specialized training for flight crews. Arkia pilots successfully completed this required training prior to commencing operations.
Initially, Arkia will offer three direct flights per week to Madeira. The airline plans to expand its services to the island, making additional flights available for booking by the Israeli public.
Madeira, an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, is promoted as a destination offering dramatic natural landscapes, hiking trails, beaches, and picturesque towns, with its capital Funchal.
