Arkia Launches First Direct Flights From Israel to Madeira
Israeli airline Arkia has launched the first-ever direct flights from Tel Aviv to Madeira, a Portuguese archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. The inaugural flight, operated in partnership with Millennium, took off on Tuesday and landed at Madeira International Airport, named after the island's famous son, football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
The flight, utilizing an Arkia Airbus A321, has a duration of approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes. Operating flights to Madeira's airport is considered operationally challenging and requires specialized training for flight crews, which Arkia pilots have successfully completed.
Initially, Arkia will operate three direct flights per week to Madeira. The airline plans to expand its operations to the island in the future, offering more flights for Israeli travelers. Madeira is known for its dramatic natural landscapes, cliffs, hiking trails, beaches, and picturesque towns, with its capital Funchal offering a vibrant city experience.
