Arkia Launches Direct Flights From Tel Aviv to Madeira

Arkia Airlines has commenced direct flights from Tel Aviv to Madeira, a Portuguese island group in the Atlantic Ocean, marking the first time Israeli travelers can reach the destination directly. The inaugural flight operated in partnership with Millennium, utilizing an Arkia Airbus A321. The journey takes approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes, landing at Madeira International Airport, named after football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who hails from the island's capital, Funchal.

Operating flights to Madeira's airport is considered operationally challenging, requiring specialized training for flight crews, which Arkia pilots have successfully completed. Initially, Arkia plans to operate three direct flights per week to Madeira in collaboration with Millennium. The airline intends to expand its operations and offer more flights to the island for the Israeli public in the future.

Madeira is promoted as a destination offering dramatic natural landscapes, cliffs, hiking trails, beaches, and picturesque towns, alongside its capital, Funchal. The islands are known for their pleasant climate year-round, providing a blend of nature, culinary experiences, and leisure activities.
