Gadi Eisenkot Mocks Channel 14 Over Biographical Error in Promo

Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the "Yashar!" party, publicly corrected Channel 14 after its promotional material for a new documentary series about him contained a factual error. The promo described Eisenkot as a "boy from Afula who reached the top of the IDF," but Eisenkot took to social media to point out that he was actually born in Tiberias and grew up in Eilat.

Eisenkot, who served as the 21st Chief of Staff of the IDF from 2015 to 2019, emphasized the inaccuracy in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "You haven't even broadcast a minute of the 'investigation' yet, and here's the first lie: I love Afula, but I was born in Tiberias and grew up in Eilat." His official biography and military records confirm his birth in Tiberias and upbringing in Eilat.

The documentary series is set to explore Eisenkot's life path, his military service, and his subsequent political career. His military career included significant command roles such as commander of the Golani Brigade, commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, head of the Operations Directorate, commander of the Northern Command, and Deputy Chief of Staff.

This incident follows a similar error by Channel 14 last month, where a promo mistakenly identified a woman on the street as former Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi. That publication was later removed after the woman was confirmed not to be Tomer-Yerushalmi.
