Gadi Eisenkot Mocks Channel 14 Over Biographical Error in Documentary Preview

Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, publicly criticized Channel 14 on Tuesday after the network published an inaccurate biographical detail in a preview for an upcoming documentary series about him. The preview stated the series would cover "from the boy from Afula who reached the top of the IDF, to the politician who seeks to be portrayed as 'the responsible adult.'"

Eisenkot shared the preview on social media, pointing out the error: "You haven't broadcast a minute of the 'investigation' yet, and here's the first lie: I love Afula, but I was born in Tiberias and grew up in Eilat." The documentary preview incorrectly identified Afula as his birthplace, while Eisenkot was born in Tiberias in 1960 and later moved to Eilat, where he was raised. Eisenkot served in the IDF for decades, enlisting in 1978 in the Golani Brigade. He held numerous command positions, including commander of the Golani Brigade, commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, head of the Operations Directorate, commander of the Northern Command, and deputy chief of staff. He was appointed the 21st Chief of Staff of the IDF in 2015.

The factual error provided Eisenkot an opportunity to mock the channel before the series, which examines his decisions and perspectives throughout his military career and subsequent political path, even aired.
