Channel 14 Airs Falsehoods About Gadi Eisenkot, Draws His Ire

Channel 14 has once again faced criticism for factual errors, this time concerning a promotional teaser for a new documentary series about Gadi Eisenkot, a prominent political figure and former IDF chief of staff. The teaser described Eisenkot as "the boy from Afula who reached the top of the IDF and then a politician seeking to be portrayed as the 'responsible adult.'"

Eisenkot himself responded to the teaser on social media platform X, pointing out the inaccuracy. While expressing his fondness for the city of Afula, he clarified that he was born in Tiberias and grew up in Eilat, not Afula. He highlighted this as the "first lie" in the "investigation" before it had even aired.

This incident follows a similar mistake by Channel 14 last month. In that case, the channel mistakenly identified a woman walking her dog as former Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer Yerushalmi. A reporter from the channel pursued and questioned the woman aggressively, asking if she was seeking a plea deal or if she wanted to apologize to soldiers.

The channel's broadcast continued to label her as the former Military Advocate General and questioned why she was not apologizing, even after viewers pointed out the error. The report remained online for several hours before the promotional tweet was eventually deleted.
