More than a quarter of a million people have seen “Kupa Roshit: The Movie” in the four days since it opened in cinemas, setting a record for a film launch in Israeli theaters in recent years. The movie, released during Israeli Cinema Day last week, quickly became one of the most notable film events in the country and joined the list of the biggest box-office successes in Israel in recent years.
The film stars the cast of the popular Kan 11 series “Kupa Roshit,” and its opening was described as exceptional. The article says the all-time biggest opening in Israeli cinema still belongs to “Leshachrer et Shuli Sun,” which drew 210,000 viewers in its first three days.
Moshe Aderi, the film’s distributor for United King Films, called the result “an extraordinary achievement.” He said, “In such a complicated period, it is moving to see the Israeli audience choosing to go to the movie theaters. Hearing laughter rolling through full halls is a tremendous feeling of satisfaction for everyone who took part in making the film, and a reminder of the power of cinema to give audiences moments of joy and relief.”
