Man Charged with Attempted Murder of Ex-Wife's Partner Days After Prison Release

The State Prosecutor's Office has indicted Eliran Salmi, a resident of Beit Shemesh, on charges of attempted murder of his ex-wife's partner. The indictment alleges that Salmi stabbed the victim five times in the chest and back, causing serious injuries.

Salmi and his ex-wife divorced approximately two years ago, after which she began a new relationship. Despite her requests, Salmi went to her home on August 30th, just days after completing a 13-month prison sentence for threats and assault against her and the victim. He waited outside the residence and confronted the victim upon his arrival, threatening him and pushing him.

About an hour later, Salmi returned with a kitchen knife. Wearing gloves, he climbed onto a roof near the entrance and entered the home against his ex-wife's wishes. He approached the victim in the kitchen and stabbed him twice in the chest, shouting "Die! Die! Die!". During the struggle, Salmi inflicted three more stab wounds to the victim's back and bit his ear.

The victim managed to grab Salmi's hand, preventing further stabbing, and a neighbor intervened, taking the knife away. The victim sustained stab wounds to the chest and back, as well as a fractured collarbone. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery.

The prosecution has charged Salmi with attempted murder, aggravated grievous bodily harm, threats, and assault. They are requesting his detention until the legal proceedings are concluded.
