Man Charged with Attempted Murder for Stabbing Ex-Wife's Partner

The State Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against Eliran Salmi, a resident of Beit Shemesh, for the attempted murder of his ex-wife's partner. Salmi allegedly arrived at his ex-wife's home armed with a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim five times in the chest and back, causing severe injuries.

According to the indictment, Salmi and his wife divorced about two years prior to the incident, and she later began a relationship with the complainant. On the night of August 30, driven by jealousy and following previous threats and assaults, Salmi waited outside his ex-wife's home. When the complainant arrived, Salmi confronted him, threatened him, and warned him not to call the police.

About an hour later, Salmi returned with a kitchen knife. He climbed onto a nearby awning, put on gloves, and entered the house despite his ex-wife's pleas for him to leave. Salmi approached the complainant in the kitchen and stabbed him twice in the chest, shouting "Die! Die! Die!". During the struggle, he stabbed the victim three more times in the back and bit his ear. The complainant managed to grab Salmi's hand, preventing further stabbing, and a neighbor intervened to confiscate the knives.

The victim sustained stab wounds to the chest and back, as well as a fractured collarbone. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery. Salmi is accused of attempted murder, aggravated assault, threats, and battery. The prosecution noted that just days before this incident, Salmi had completed a 13-month prison sentence for threats, assault, and violating a restraining order against the complainant and his ex-wife.
