Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Stabbing Over Trivial Dispute

A 28-year-old man from Rehovot, Shahar Azulay, has been indicted for attempted murder, threats, possession of a knife, and obstruction of justice. The charges stem from an incident where he allegedly stabbed and critically injured a man following a minor argument near a kiosk in Rehovot. According to the prosecution's statement, the victim and his girlfriend were near the kiosk when Azulay cursed at a woman passing by. The victim commented on Azulay's behavior, escalating into a dispute that prompted the kiosk owner to ask them to leave.

Azulay reportedly left the scene but returned about ten minutes later, armed with a knife. He allegedly threatened the victim, saying, "I will cut him, I will f*** him up, I will show this asshole what's what." He then approached the victim and repeatedly stabbed him in the face and head before fleeing on an electric bicycle and discarding the knife. The victim was rushed to Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot, sedated and on a respirator, in serious condition.

The Central District Prosecutor's Office has requested that Azulay be held in custody until the legal proceedings conclude. The prosecution emphasized that Azulay's actions demonstrate a "reckless disregard" for using severe violence and a bladed weapon with the intent to kill, highlighting his high risk to the public.

In a separate, unrelated case mentioned at the end of the article, a 26-year-old man, Liel Ifargan from Beit Shemesh, was indicted earlier this week for aggravated murder and attempted murder. He is accused of stabbing a 7-year-old boy, Hillel Mordechai Dadon, and his 4-year-old cousin in Beit Shemesh about a month prior, while the children were playing in a backyard pool.
