Man Charged with Attempted Murder for Stabbing in Afula
The Northern District Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against a 39-year-old Afula resident, charging him with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and obstruction of justice. The charges stem from a stabbing incident on August 25th where a 66-year-old man was critically injured.
The victim was on his way to Selichot prayers and the morning service at a synagogue in Afula when he was attacked and stabbed multiple times. He was transported to HaEmek Hospital in serious condition.
Following the incident, law enforcement and forensic investigators were dispatched to the scene. Initially, the motive for the attack was unclear, and investigators explored all possible leads. Two days later, on August 27th, police apprehended the suspect, a 39-year-old Afula resident, who was arrested on suspicion of involvement.
His detention was extended periodically as investigators gathered evidence to solidify the case against him. The indictment was filed at the court in Naveh Galil.
