Ex-Partner of Murdered Woman Charged with Threats After Release from Custody

The police filed a chargesheet on Monday against the ex-partner of Leah Malka, who was murdered in a car explosion in Holon earlier this month. The charges relate to threats he made, which had led to investigations months before the murder. After failing to gather sufficient evidence to indict him for the murder, authorities proceeded with charges based on these threats.

The threats, sent to Malka's family, included violent and disturbing messages such as "I will rape you," and warnings of reciprocal harm, reflecting deep animosity linked to a difficult divorce process. In total, the suspect sent 95 threatening messages in March alone, prompting complaints from Malka and her family to the police.

Leah Malka, 35, from Rishon Lezion, was killed in the car bombing on the Ayalon Highway in early June. Police suspect the murder was connected to the acrimonious divorce proceedings between Malka and her ex-partner. Despite the severity of the case, the suspect was released to house arrest after authorities could not build a murder case against him. The police had previously been urged to act on his threats but had not taken decisive measures, according to reports.

The case remains under investigation as the family and authorities seek justice for Malka's death and address the ongoing threats against her relatives.
