Israeli Man Killed in West Bank Attack, Terrorist Apprehended

A terrorist attack near the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the Benjamin region on Sunday, September 20, resulted in the death of Natanel Shachroun, a resident of the Alei Zahav settlement. Shachroun was found unconscious in his vehicle near the Ein Riya spring and later pronounced dead at Beilinson Hospital. His young son, who was with him in the car, was unharmed.

The assailant, who fled the scene after opening fire, was apprehended by IDF forces in Ramallah. The IDF stated that "Duvdevan" unit soldiers, in coordination with the Shin Bet, captured the terrorist at a hospital near the attack site. Reports indicate that a nearby sniper fired at the terrorist shortly after the attack, wounding him before he escaped.

In response to the incident, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir ordered the demolition of the terrorist's home. The attack occurred amidst heightened IDF readiness in Judea and Samaria ahead of the High Holidays. Security forces are concerned about the possibility of further attacks by armed terrorists.

Separately, IDF soldiers from the 890th Battalion of the Paratroopers Brigade neutralized one terrorist and apprehended another attempting a car-ramming attack near the settlement of Ganim in the Menashe Brigade's area of responsibility. No Israeli soldiers were injured in this incident.

Leaders from the Benjamin and Samaria regional councils condemned the attack and called for increased security operations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed condolences to the victim's family and vowed that "no terrorist will go unpunished." Defense Minister Israel Katz also praised the forces for neutralizing one terrorist and apprehending another.
