Israeli Soldier Thwarts Larger Attack After Fatal Terror Shooting Near Ramallah

An Israeli man critically wounded in an armed terrorist attack in the Benjamin region has died, despite efforts by medics to save him. The attack could have resulted in a much higher casualty count, but a nearby soldier opened fire on the assailant, forcing him to flee. The incident occurred near a water source where individuals had gathered for ritual immersion ahead of Yom Kippur. The terrorist targeted an Israeli in a vehicle, opening fire before the soldier intervened. The soldier's immediate response prevented the attacker from continuing his assault in an area where other people were present.

Following the attack, Israeli security forces launched a large-scale manhunt for the armed perpetrator. Palestinian sources reported that soldiers conducted raids in the villages of Abu Falah and Kafr Malek, northeast of Ramallah. Additionally, a curfew was reportedly imposed in Ramallah and surrounding areas. The search for the terrorist, described as wearing black clothing, having a beard, and carrying a long-barreled weapon, is ongoing. The military has deployed air assets from the Air Force, additional ready reserve units, and the Duvdevan special forces unit in the pursuit.

Traffic on Highway 465 was blocked in both directions between Bir Zeit and the Abu Dis bypass following the shooting. No information regarding the suspect's capture has been released.
