Israeli Soldier Kills Terrorist Attempting Weapon Snatch in Benjamin Region
An attempted terrorist attack at Rimonim Square in the Benjamin area was thwarted when an assailant tried to seize the personal weapon of an Israeli soldier from Battalion 94. The soldier reacted swiftly, shooting and killing the attacker within seconds, with no casualties among Israeli forces. Large IDF forces were deployed to the scene following the incident.
This attack occurred just hours after a stabbing in the Jordan Valley village of Ouja, where 24-year-old Israeli reservist Elhanan Hanania was moderately wounded. Hanania was attacked by a terrorist while returning to his car with his family, preparing to celebrate his wedding anniversary in Tiberias. The assailant stabbed him multiple times before fleeing, prompting extensive security searches extending to the Jericho area.
Hanania's brothers, Shlomo and Yosef, recounted at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem that Elhanan had stopped to buy cigarettes when the attacker ambushed him from behind. Despite his injuries, Hanania struggled with the assailant to protect his family, who witnessed the attack. He sustained a shoulder fracture and internal bleeding and is currently in pain and unable to communicate clearly.
The IDF continues to pursue the terrorist responsible for the earlier stabbing in the Jordan Valley, while security forces maintain heightened alert in the region following these incidents.
