IDF Kills Terrorist Behind Deadly Shooting Attack in West Bank Village, Recovers Stolen Weapon
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) eliminated the terrorist responsible for a deadly shooting attack in the West Bank village of Tel on Friday morning. The assailant had opened fire on a group of Israeli hikers, killing one Israeli civilian and injuring three others, including one critically wounded. During the attack, the terrorist seized a security weapon from the central security post of the nearby settlement of Havat Gilad.
Following the attack, the IDF successfully recovered the stolen weapon. Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir held a situation assessment with the Central Command commander and the head of the Military Intelligence Directorate, ordering a significant reinforcement of forces in the area to strengthen security and apprehend all terrorists involved.
An ongoing multi-agency situation assessment is being conducted under the Central Command, involving the Judea and Samaria Division, the Shin Bet security service, and the Israel Police. Concurrently, the IDF is conducting extensive operational activity in the Samaria region, including in the villages of Beit Furik and Tubas, aiming to prevent further attacks and capture additional suspects.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that the village sheikh was involved in seizing the weapon and carrying out the shooting. Emergency medical teams treated four wounded individuals at the scene, but one victim was pronounced dead. Security forces continue intensive efforts to locate other terrorists potentially linked to the attack.
