Health Ministry Halts Use of Specific Similac Batch in Hospitals After Complaint
Israel's Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday the suspension of the use of a single batch of Similac infant formula in hospitals nationwide. The decision was made as a precautionary measure following a "specific complaint" received the previous evening regarding the product. The affected batch is identified as 89203N201.
Officials emphasized that this particular batch is exclusively distributed to hospitals and is not available for retail sale. The ministry stated that, at this stage, the issue involves a solitary complaint with no reports of any infant experiencing adverse health effects. Abbott, the manufacturer, is reportedly working to supply an alternative batch to the hospitals.
The directive applies solely to the identified batch, and there are no restrictions on other Similac batches currently in use. The ministry is monitoring the situation closely.
