Scooter Chase in Yasif Ends with Arrest of Teen Driver and 7-Year-Old Passenger
A dramatic police chase unfolded in the village of Yasif on Sunday after a scooter rider refused to stop for Border Police officers and fled through the village streets. The pursuit concluded with the arrest of the 18-year-old suspect, who was carrying his 7-year-old cousin on the scooter without helmets.
The incident occurred during a law enforcement operation targeting dangerous riding and road bullying by Border Police motorcycle officers in Yasif. Officers observed the scooter rider with a passenger, neither wearing helmets. When signaled to stop, the rider fled, driving against traffic and endangering himself, the child, and other road users.
The Border Police officers initiated a pursuit. The suspect eventually abandoned the scooter and attempted to escape on foot toward a nearby house, but officers apprehended him.
Following his arrest, it was confirmed the rider was 18 years old and the passenger was his 7-year-old cousin. The suspect was arrested for further investigation, in addition to receiving traffic citations and penalty points.
