Police Chase Ends With Scooter Rider Arrested After Foot Pursuit in East Jerusalem

During a routine traffic enforcement operation in the Beit Hanina neighborhood of East Jerusalem, a scooter rider carrying a passenger refused to stop for a police check and fled at high speed, endangering himself, his passenger, and other road users. The police officer pursuing him witnessed the scooter slip, prompting both the rider and passenger to abandon the vehicle and attempt to escape on foot. The officer gave chase and successfully apprehended the rider after a foot pursuit.

Meanwhile, bystanders at the scene tried to remove the scooter to conceal evidence, but rapid coordination with a lookout at the Jerusalem district control center enabled police to locate and seize the vehicle. The suspect, a 20-year-old man from Beit Hanina and the Shuafat refugee camp, was found to have never held a driving license and was caught driving without one for the third time. He was arrested, taken for interrogation, and summoned for a court hearing.
