Israeli Teen Arrested for Reckless Scooter Ride Injuring Two Children in Playground

An 18-year-old from Bir al-Maksur was arrested after driving a T-MAX scooter without a license and crashing into a playground on June 30, injuring two eight-year-old children. The suspect, who never obtained a driving license, allegedly entered the park at high speed, hitting a boy and a girl playing there. The girl remains in rehabilitation and uses a wheelchair. After the incident, the suspect fled the scene and hid the scooter in a relative's property. Police from the Galilee Traffic Division, led by Chief Superintendent Roni Hinawi, conducted a raid on the suspect's home on Monday, arresting him and a 22-year-old relative suspected of helping conceal the scooter. During the arrest, police found dismantled scooter parts believed to be used to hide evidence, as well as ammunition. Both suspects were brought to Haifa Magistrate's Court, where their detention was extended until Sunday. Hinawi emphasized ongoing strict enforcement against two-wheeled vehicles and micro-mobility devices, vowing thorough investigations against those who tamper with evidence to evade justice.
