Veteran Kan News Director Dies in Cycling Accident
Yitzhak Barashi, a veteran and respected director at Kan News, died over the weekend in a cycling accident on Highway 44 near the Nesherim interchange. Barashi, 56, was found unconscious with a severe head injury by Magen David Adom paramedics who responded to the scene. He was evacuated by intensive care ambulance to the hospital, where his death was pronounced.
Barashi joined the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation in 2018 and was known for his professionalism and commitment, covering both routine broadcasts and wartime coverage. Kan News eulogized him as a valued colleague who accompanied their broadcasts with dedication.
Ayala Hasson, a Kan News anchor, also mourned Barashi, describing him as a beloved director, an excellent professional, a devoted family man, and a good person. Hasson mentioned that Barashi was scheduled to work with her on the day of the accident, as he had for countless broadcasts over the years. She expressed her grief, noting he left behind a wife and three children.
Details regarding Barashi's funeral have not yet been released. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and their children, Keran, Roi, and Itai.
