Netanyahu's US Trip Shortened, Musk Meeting Canceled Amid Scheduling Issues

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's planned visit to the United States has been significantly shortened, with a key meeting with businessman Elon Musk canceled. An Israeli work team had already been dispatched to Texas for the Musk meeting, but it was called off due to coordination challenges, including the need for a refueling stop for Netanyahu's plane, which cannot fly directly from Israel to Texas. Israeli officials stated that Netanyahu himself made the decision to cancel the Musk meeting.

Instead of the original plan to arrive in New York on Wednesday, speak on Thursday, and then return, Netanyahu is now expected to land in the U.S. on Thursday morning, deliver his speech at the UN General Assembly at 2 p.m. local time, and immediately depart back to Israel. This marks an unusually brief visit compared to his previous trips.

Netanyahu will also not meet with U.S. President Donald Trump during this visit, despite efforts by his staff. Trump is scheduled to speak at the UN on Tuesday but will return to Washington afterward to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Senior U.S. administration officials confirmed the lack of a meeting, citing "scheduling constraints" and noting Netanyahu's limited time in the U.S. due to the upcoming Israeli elections.

Concerns over potential provocations by an individual named Mimdani have also led to Netanyahu's plane not landing at New York's JFK Airport. The Prime Minister's speech at the UN General Assembly is scheduled for next Thursday at 2 p.m. local time and will be broadcast live.
