Netanyahu Shortens US Visit for UN Speech
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will significantly shorten his upcoming visit to the United States, arriving in New York on the day of his address to the UN General Assembly and departing immediately afterward. The prime minister was initially scheduled to begin his diplomatic tour in Texas before heading to New York for his Thursday speech.
Sources familiar with the matter informed i24NEWS that Netanyahu had planned to meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio prior to his speech. This meeting was part of the original itinerary before the decision to curtail the visit was made.
Earlier in July, i24NEWS reported that Netanyahu had considered canceling his UN address but ultimately decided to proceed, partly due to the opportunity to engage in the election campaign. He is expected to return to Israel by the day after the Sukkot holiday.
