Elche Sets La Liga Record in First Win, Israeli Player Roie Revivo Shines

In the opening match of the seventh round of the Spanish Championship, Elche defeated Espanyol 3-1 away. Elche set a 21st-century La Liga record by becoming the first team to win with a two-goal margin after being reduced to ten men within the first six minutes of the match. This victory marks Elche's first of the season.

Fer Niño also set a club record, scoring five goals in his first seven matches for Elche since his transfer from Burgos on July 29. Both of Niño's goals were assisted by Roie Revivo, who joined from Maccabi Tel Aviv on September 1. Revivo was substituted in the 77th minute.

Despite Espanyol dominating possession (66%) and shots (23-9), Elche proved more accurate with their attempts (6-4). Espanyol's Federico Redondo Solari, a former Inter Miami midfielder, was sent off in the 6th minute.

Revivo provided the assist for the opening goal in the 26th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error outside the box to set up Niño for an empty-net finish. Three minutes later, Revivo again broke through Espanyol's defense and delivered a cross that Niño converted with a spectacular volley, making it 2-0.

Espanyol pulled one back in the 72nd minute when Víctor Hurtado, on loan from Cadiz, headed the ball into his own net. However, Elche sealed their victory in the 78th minute when Germán Valera, a product of Atlético Madrid's academy, broke through from midfield and chipped the ball over the goalkeeper for the final 3-1 score.
