Israeli Defender Roy Revivo Achieves Rare Feat in La Liga

Israeli defender Roy Revivo delivered one of the best performances of his career on Friday night, recording two assists in a match against Espanyol. This marks the fifth time in Revivo's career he has achieved this feat, with the previous instance occurring earlier in the 2026/27 season.

Revivo is now close to matching his father, Haim Revivo's, official assist record of three in La Liga. During Haim Revivo's tenure with Celta Vigo from 1996 to 2000, assists were rarely officially recorded.

Achieving two assists as a defender in La Liga is a rare accomplishment, and Revivo is the first player to do so this season. Last year, only three defenders managed this: Hector Fort of Barcelona, Fede Valverde of Real Madrid, and Mateo Retegui of Atletico Madrid. While this occurred multiple times in the 2024/25 season, it often happened later in the season and not within the first half-hour of play. Considering his team was playing with ten men, this performance is considered one of the most remarkable by a defender in the league's history.

Furthermore, according to Mister Chip, this is the third time in La Liga history that a team playing with ten men has taken a 2-0 lead by halftime.
