Police opened an investigation on Sunday after an elderly woman was found dead in her apartment in Ashdod. Her husband was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the killing. According to the report, a family member alerted police, and officers who arrived at the scene called in forensic investigators.
Investigators found signs of violence and severe head injuries on the body. Medics and paramedics from Magen David Adom pronounced the woman dead at the apartment. The victim was initially described as a woman in her 60s, but later reports from the scene said she appeared to be about 80 years old.
Orel Asulin, a Magen David Adom paramedic from the motorcycle unit, described the scene: “We arrived at the place and were led into the apartment. We saw a woman about 80 years old lying unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing.” Police said the suspect is the victim’s husband, and the investigation into the circumstances of her death is ongoing.
