Ashdod Man Charged With Murder After Killing Wife With Wine Bottle and Leaving Her Body for Two Days

The State Prosecutor's Office filed a murder indictment on Monday against 66-year-old Michael Alfovitz from Ashdod for killing his wife during an argument. The couple, married for about 42 years, lived together in Ashdod. According to the indictment submitted by Attorney Shirin Mahajna from the Southern District Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred after the wife returned from work and discovered Alfovitz had not completed household tasks she requested. During the ensuing argument, the wife lay down in the bedroom. Alfovitz then entered holding a wine bottle and struck her multiple times on the head, causing skull fractures and severe nervous system damage.

After noticing she stopped breathing, Alfovitz did not call for emergency help or provide medical assistance, leaving her body in the apartment for two days. During that time, he also harmed himself with knives. Two days later, Alfovitz called his daughter and son-in-law to inform them of the murder. Family members arrived with police and medical teams, who found the wife deceased and officially pronounced her dead at the scene.

Alfovitz is charged with murder, and the police have requested to extend his detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
