The IDF said it struck central Gaza on Saturday night and killed Ahmad Samir Muhammad Washah, a Hamas military wing operative who served as a sniper agent. He was killed together with two other Hamas operatives.
According to the military, Washah had also worked in recent years as a cameraman for Al Jazeera, while at the same time being active in Hamas’s armed wing. In recent weeks, he had advanced sniper plans and other terror attacks against IDF forces operating in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF said Washah worked alongside his brother, Muhammad Samir Muhammad Washah, a senior Hamas figure in the organization’s rocket and weapons production headquarters. The brother operated under the cover of an Al Jazeera journalist and was killed in April.
The army said Washah was eliminated in a precise airstrike because of his recent military activity and the threat he posed to Israeli troops in the area.
