The Israel Defense Forces said it struck central Gaza today and killed Ahmad Samir Muhammad Washah, a sniper operative in Hamas’s military wing who also worked as an Al Jazeera cameraman. According to the IDF, the precision airstrike also killed two other militants.
The military said Washah had recently been advancing sniper plans and other terror attacks against IDF forces in the Gaza Strip. It identified him as an active participant in Hamas combat activity while operating under the cover of a journalist for Al Jazeera.
The IDF also said Washah’s brother, Muhammad Samir Muhammad Washah, was a senior Hamas operative in the rocket-production headquarters and had also posed as an Al Jazeera journalist. He was killed in April.
