Israeli Community Mourns Teen Killed in Hit-and-Run in Hadera

The community of ITAMAR is mourning the death of 17-year-old Amichai Attia, who was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Hadera early Friday morning. Attia, a 12th-grade student at the Hitzim Yeshiva, was described by residents as a beloved, value-driven, and vibrant young man who was a significant figure among his peers and an active guide at the local youth center. He was deeply involved in community life, loved by his friends, and appreciated by those around him.

Attia was on his way to a Selichot (penitential prayers) event with friends when the incident occurred. Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, expressed the community's shock and sorrow, noting that Attia had left for the event with friends and never returned. Dagan stated that he is in contact with the mayor of Hadera and all relevant parties to provide support.

The Attia family is described as a beloved and significant family within the ITAMAR community. Amichai, son of Sagitt and Yona Attia, is survived by five siblings, including a twin brother. The Shomron Regional Council, along with educational and welfare officials, is providing support to the Attia family, his friends, and the wider community.

According to information from the Shomron Regional Council, the driver, a resident of Kafr Manda, was reportedly speeding in a parking lot when he struck Attia. The circumstances of the incident are currently under intensive police investigation.
