Israel Kills Hamas Nukhba Commander Involved in Oct. 7 Attack

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Thursday the elimination of two senior Hamas commanders in the Gaza Strip in recent days, including a member of the elite Nukhba force who participated in the October 7th attack on Israel. On Wednesday, the IDF conducted a strike in the Al-Bureij area of central Gaza, killing Muhammad Jamal Ahmad Eid, a Nukhba commander within Hamas's armed wing. Eid had infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7th assault. Two days prior, on Tuesday, another strike in the Gaza City region eliminated Saleh Ziad Ibrahim Miqdad, a platoon commander in Hamas's naval force. Both individuals had recently been involved in preparing attacks against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians. They were also working to enhance the operational readiness of Hamas operatives and rebuild the organization's capabilities, in systematic violation of a ceasefire. The IDF stated that measures were taken before the strikes to minimize civilian risk, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance. Forces from the Southern Command remain deployed in Gaza and will continue to act against immediate threats, the army added.
