Israel Eliminates Hamas Naval Commander and October 7th Raid Leader
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of two senior Hamas commanders in Gaza over the past few days. On Wednesday, Muhammad Jamal Ahmad Eid, identified as a commander in Hamas's elite Nukhba force who participated in the October 7th attacks, was killed in the Al-Bureij area. The previous day, Tuesday, Salah Ziyad Ibrahim Maqdad, a commander in the naval forces of Hamas's military wing, was eliminated in Gaza City.
According to the IDF, both commanders had recently been involved in planning attacks and rebuilding the organization's capabilities. The military stated that measures were taken to minimize civilian harm during the strikes, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
The IDF has been conducting operations in Gaza following the October 7th Hamas-led attacks on Israel, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the taking of around 240 hostages.
