Spice Company Recalls Ground Black Pepper Over Toxin Levels
Tebel Spices and Food Products Ltd. is recalling its "Gal Spices" brand ground black pepper due to the presence of high levels of aflatoxins, a type of mycotoxin, exceeding permitted limits. The recall was initiated following an inspection by the Ministry of Health's Food Service, which found the product was manufactured in violation of regulations.
The affected products include 50g bags and 50g, 80g, and 120g plastic jars of ground black pepper, with any expiration date up to and including February 2028. Aflatoxins are naturally occurring fungal toxins that can cause illness and long-term health damage.
Consumers are urged not to consume the product. In coordination with the Food Service in the Northern District, Tebel Spices is removing the product from distribution channels. For inquiries and returns, customers can contact 0509019600.
