Tebel Spices and Food Products Ltd. announced Wednesday a recall of ground black pepper under the "Gal Spices" brand due to the presence of aflatoxins exceeding permitted levels. The discovery was made during an inspection by the Ministry of Health's Food Service.

The company stated that the product was manufactured in violation of regulations. The recall affects ground black pepper in four package sizes: 50-gram bags, and 50, 80, and 120-gram plastic jars. All packages with an "best before" date up to and including February 2028 are included.

Aflatoxins are naturally occurring fungal toxins that can cause illness and long-term health damage. Tebel Spices is working to remove the affected product from stores and sales points. In coordination with the Northern District Food Service, the company is collecting the product from distribution channels.

Customers who possess the recalled product are urged not to consume it. For further information or to return the product, consumers can contact the company at 050-9019600. The company emphasized that the recall covers all four specified package types and all expiration dates up to February 2028.
