Health Ministry Recalls Ground Black Pepper Due to Toxin Contamination

Translated & summarized from Ice by baba
The story · English

Israel's Ministry of Health has issued a public warning against using ground black pepper from the "Tavlinai Gal" brand, produced by "Tevel Tavlinim VeDvrei Mazon Ltd.". The warning comes after the ministry's food service found elevated levels of aflatoxins, a type of mycotoxin, in the product. Aflatoxins are naturally occurring fungal toxins that can cause illness and long-term health damage.

The affected product is ground black pepper sold in 50g bags, and 50g, 80g, and 120g plastic jars. The recall applies to all expiration dates up to and including February 2028. The ministry stated that the product was manufactured in violation of regulations.

In coordination with the ministry's food service in the central district, Tevel Tavlinim VeDvrei Mazon Ltd. is removing the contaminated product from sales channels. The public has been instructed not to consume the product.
