Thousands of Jewish Youth Celebrate Daily Rambam Study in Jerusalem

Thousands of Jewish teenagers gathered in Jerusalem over two days to mark the completion of a section and the beginning of a new year in the daily study of Maimonides' "Mishneh Torah." The program, known as "The Daily Rambam," saw students finish "Book of Seasons" and commence "Book of Women."

The events, held during the Ten Days of Repentance, included prayers and celebrations at the Sultan's Pool. Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, Chief Rabbi of Safed, led the proceedings, with Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, also in attendance.

Rabbi Yishai Gertler, National Supervisor for Elementary Education in the Religious Education system, addressed the students, emphasizing the character-building aspect of consistent daily study and their connection to a larger community of learners. Rabbi Avraham Zerbib, a dayan and reserve soldier, shared his experience of consistently studying the Rambam throughout his military service, encouraging the youth to maintain their commitment.

The program has gained significant popularity among young people in recent years, with students dedicating their free time, including breaks, Shabbat, and holidays, to studying Maimonides' legal code. The event was hosted by musician Avia Sherman and featured musical performances by singers Akiva and Elyitzer, accompanied by musician Naor Karmi.

Interactive quizzes and "battle of the minds" competitions related to the study material were also part of the festivities, with prizes awarded to participants.
