Thousands of Students Gather in Jerusalem to Celebrate Daily Rambam Study

Thousands of students from hundreds of Hesder Yeshivas and state-religious high schools filled Jerusalem's Sultan's Pool complex on Wednesday for a massive event celebrating the "Daily Rambam" program. The gathering marked the conclusion of the "Book of Seasons" study, which took place over the summer, and the enthusiastic commencement of the "Book of Women." The event, held during the Ten Days of Repentance, included a spiritual ceremony of accepting the yoke of Heaven, alongside performances by musicians Akiva and Eliצור.

The program, based on voluntary study of Maimonides' "Mishneh Torah" by teenagers during breaks, weekends, and holidays, is entering a new academic year. The event followed two days of Torah and values celebrations in the capital, with thousands of female students attending a similar gathering the previous evening.

Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, Chief Rabbi of Safed, and Rabbi Moshe Shlomo Amar, former Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel and Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, offered blessings. Rabbi Yishai Gertler, national supervisor for the state-religious education system (HIMAD), emphasized that the daily study builds character and connects students to a national network.

Rabbi Avraham Zerbib, a judge and a torchlighter at Israel's Independence Day ceremony, shared his personal connection between Torah study and military service, recounting his consistent Rambam study throughout his combat service. The event also featured interactive activities, quizzes with prizes hosted by singer Avihai Sherman, and concluded with spirited dancing to performances by Akiva and Eliצור.
