Rabid Dog Found Near Shfaram, Public Urged to Report Contact
The Ministry of Health reported on September 16 that a dog infected with rabies was discovered in an agricultural area near the town of Shfaram in the Western Galilee. The dog is described as a large, black and brown mixed breed.
Three individuals who were exposed to the animal have been referred for preventative treatment. The public is urged to contact the Acre Health Bureau immediately if they came into contact with the dog or any stray animal in the area between August 28 and September 14. Those who cannot reach the bureau after working hours should go to the nearest emergency room.
In cases of bites or scratches, the ministry advises immediate washing with soap and water for approximately 10 minutes, followed by disinfection and reporting to the health bureau.
